A Morning of Music, Craft, and Conversation

CBS News Chicago stopped by the FRET12 shop inside The Salt Shed for a morning of live music, conversation, and a closer look at what we've been building here in Chicago.

Reporter Jackie Kostek spent the morning with our team, talking about how FRET12 began in 2008, our roots in music and artist storytelling, and how that has grown into a music-inspired clothing and lifestyle brand. We shared a look at the clothing we design, cut, and sew in our Chicago studio, the stories behind our graphics, our curated selection of books and magazines, and the String Thing, which gives used guitar strings a second life.

The morning also brought together some great local talent. Chicago blues guitarist Dave Specter provided the live soundtrack, while Dave Showalter of MachMachine Guitars joined us to talk about his handcrafted guitars and the process behind them.

A big thank you to Jackie Kostek and the entire CBS News Chicago team for spending the morning with us, and to everyone who came out early to help make it happen. It's always a pleasure to share what we're working on, especially when it brings together the people, craft, and music that make FRET12 what it is.
